Dedicated college student progresses through further education with the help of our qualification
Raja Javid, a learner at South Staffordshire College, is going from strength to strength in his studies.
Described as “a pleasure to teach”, Raja hasn’t let anything hold him back.
Originally enrolled onto the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner as a late starter, Raja wasn’t going to let that stop him from achieving his goals. Raja was soon known by all learners and tutors within the college because of his friendly and considerate personality.
Adapting to his studies
Raja quickly settled into his studies and regularly stayed late to complete his work on top of completing placements; one of the many reasons he was nominated in our 2020 Aspiration Awards.
Judith Greaves, a tutor of Raja’s explained: “I was impressed with how well he had settled into placement and how the children had taken to him. Staff in the school also confirmed how well he was doing, always positive and hard working.
“He has an excellent attitude to work and is determined to succeed.”
Discussing his award nomination, Raja said: “I am very happy for getting nominated for an aspiration award and I am so thankful to all those people who have nominated me.
“I’m so grateful that I had Judith Greaves as my tutor, she has supported me so much throughout my course. Judith is a great tutor who would do anything to support each of her learners.”
Going above and beyond
As well as learning full-time and supporting family at home, Raja still found time to help teachers too. Judith highlighted: “He ensures that all the staff are supported. He helps teachers at college during lunch times and after school to assist them in their classrooms and takes on jobs so that they can continue with other responsibilities.
“I have never met a student who is as so determined, conscientious, passionate and humble, and who is supportive to everyone. Raja is very unique and has had a positive impact, not only on the students in the group but also upon me a tutor.”
Looking ahead to the future
Discussing his hopes for the future, Raja has a clear career path in mind and a vision for how he’ll get there.
“I have just started the Level 3 Child Care and Education qualification and in the future I would love to go university and become an early years teacher. I learned so much through the Level 2 course and I want to carry on learning more about children’s learning and development so I can support them when I go in to teaching.
