Montessori pedagogy – developing qualifications through true collaboration
By Janet King, Sector Manager for Education and Childcare
CACHE (part of NCFE), is extremely proud of the collaborative work undertaken to develop the specialist level 3 and level 4 Early Years qualifications in the much valued and respected Montessori pedagogy.
CACHE worked with the Crossfields Institute and Montessori Centre International to create robust and unique qualifications which provide learners with the expertise, skills and professional approach needed to become a facilitator of Montessori - including both classroom-based and placement hours.
The qualifications have been built to meet the criteria for Early Years Educators required by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), and developed in response to the Department for Education and NCTL’s More Great Childcare report.
Exceptional early years education and care requires essential, knowledge, behaviours and skills, combined with a keen appreciation of the privilege of caring for young people.
At CACHE, we are committed to offering high quality training that reflects the diverse and specialist approaches to early years education (such as Montessori), and fully appreciate the importance of supporting the sector through expertly developed qualifications.
As an educational charity, we have a core purpose to promote and advance learning. We believe that through shaping smarter learning, we can empower a fairer society, create opportunities to progress, change lives for the better and importantly, ensure no learner is left behind.
Crossfields Institute, also a registered charity, shares our vision to unlock potential and through their work, they enable educators to improve the quality of what they do, through a holistic and integrative approach.
We look forward to working together in the future as we combine our specialisms and expertise for the benefit of the workforce.
Until now, all centres delivering these qualifications have registered through Crossfields. However, from 1 September , centres will also be able to register with NCFE directly to deliver the NCFE CACHE Level 3 and Level 4 Diplomas in Montessori Pedagogy. We hope that by enabling centres to register learners through NCFE directly, it will lessen their administrative burden and streamline processes, when it comes to External Quality Assurance (EQA) reviews for example.
If you have any further queries or questions regarding these qualifications or the process you need to go through to get registered, please take a look at our qualification pages here.
